Live on Kickstarter, PlanetCare 2.0 is the only filter with scientifically proven 98% filter retention.
Ljubljana, Slovenia - October 11, 2023 /MarketersMEDIA/ —

PlanetCare, a revolutionary new microfiber filter capable of filtering 98% of microplastics from laundry, is live on global platform Kickstarter and a breakout crowdfunding success story having already raised more than 500% of their initial raise goal in under 10 days.
Today, over 60% of all clothing are now synthetic which means in a single wash up to 700,000 tiny fibers called microfibers shed from clothing and into the waterways. Microplastic pollution is a growing global concern, with microfibers from clothing and textiles representing 35% of microplastic pollution in the oceans, as research shows. PlanetCare's solution is both innovative and eco-friendly, targeting this environmental challenge head-on.
“Since 2017 PlanetCare has been on a mission: to fight microplastic pollution. We started with a grand idea that all washing machines should have a microfiber filter built into them. An idea so simple and effective that it just couldn't fail,” says founder and CEO Mojca Zupan on the inspiration behind the project. “But the world of washing machine Goliaths turns slowly. Six years ago, our innovative integrated microfiber filter was rejected by every washing machine manufacturer. We were too early. So we started to educate and empower individuals, organizations and companies that care about the environment. It worked. Today over 7,000 individuals already use filter microfibers with our first generation add-on filter and dozens of companies use our commercial filtering solution.”
The PlanetCare 2.0 Microfiber Filter is a next-generation device designed for washing machines, specifically engineered to capture over 98% of microfibers shed during laundry cycles. Its patented technology ensures that these tiny plastic particles, which are otherwise released into wastewater and eventually find their way into the oceans, are effectively trapped.
What sets PlanetCare's solution apart is its unique recycling program where used filter cartridges are returned to the company where they are properly cleaned while the caught microfibers are due for later recycling in a controlled storage— ensuring these microfibers are never again seen in the natural environment. The cartridge itself is then sent back to users to continue capturing fibers, creating a closed- loop system that minimizes waste and contributes to a healthier planet.
“We already have approved uses for the fibers that we collect (fiber reinforcement of washing machine concrete weights, chemical recycling into monomers) but since the quantities we receive are still low, we are still exploring new options. Currently we are conducting tests with a producer of designer furniture that is looking to develop a new Ocean microplastics line of their products,” says Dr. Andrej Kržan, Chief Science Officer at PlanetCare.
“Our mission is clear: To empower people all around the world and give them a chance to make a difference and stop microplastic pollution from washing machines. And our vision is one that is shared among all the people of our beautiful planet: to stop microplastic pollution completely,” adds Zupan.
